Why do I need a career coach?
Why would you hire a personal trainer or tutor? Because you are struggling to reach a particular goal and you want someone else's expertise and advice to reach your goals faster. Career coaches do the same thing for your career. We use our knowledge and expertise to help you reach your goals and select, change, and advance your career.
Your career is a big part of your life. If you’re doing work you hate, it negatively affects your physical and mental health. On the flip side, when you’re doing work you love, the energy, excitement, and momentum are palpable.
Career coaching affects your career, which affects your income, which influences where/how you live, your mental/physical health, your lifestyle, relationships with your family/spouse/friends, and your level of happiness and contentment. Career coaches not only improve your professional situation, but your personal outlook as well.
What’s the difference between the Bootcamp and the Masterclass?
Three things: price, your time commitment, and access to resources. The Bootcamp is $1,195, typically runs 4 weeks, includes three meetings, and has limited access to resources on the client website. This program is meant to target the #1 problem that keeps you up at night, and make a game plan to overcome it.
The Masterclass is $2,895, typically runs 12 weeks, includes nine meetings, and has access to all the resources on the client website, from mini-courses on resumes and LinkedIn to resource lists packed with curated and impactful information. This program is designed for those ready for a career transition, to guide you along the path from “What’s next?” to “I got the job!”

This feels like a lot of money. Why is the Masterclass so expensive?
Good question! For two reasons:
- To ensure you are committed. I want you to invest in this program, invest in yourself, and commit to getting it done. Don’t waste your money on the program if you’re not going to do the work.

How long is the Masterclass?
In general, it can take 3-6 months to find a job that you love. The Career Clarity Masterclass runs along the same timeline. The class is self-paced, so the timing is largely up to you, but the average participant who sticks to the suggested schedule graduates in about 12 weeks. Some participants prefer to take a bit longer (up to six months).

I just need a new resume. Can you help me with that?
No. I don’t write resumes as a one-off service. Why? Because it would be a disservice to you. It takes more than a good resume to get a job, and it would be unethical for me to take your money for a resume and not give you the rest of the skills and resources you need in the job search journey. However, if you’re convinced a new resume is really all you need, there are loads of resume writers out there to help. (PS: If you sign up for the Masterclass, we cover resume writing extensively - in Step 5, with the rest of the job search tips.)
How are meetings conducted?
Meetings are 45-minutes long, conducted over phone or Zoom (whichever you prefer). You will have homework to complete before each meeting and can get started immediately after purchase. During our meetings, get ready to take notes, experience "aha" moments, laugh a little bit, and feel utterly energized about your career prospects.
What can I expect from you as my coach?

- Provide safety, encouragement and support; an environment in which you can relax and explore;
- Respect the confidentiality of the agreements we make;

How long have you been a coach?
I’ve been coaching since 2012, both in business and career development. I started coaching small businesses, then focused on artist-entrepreneurs during the launch of my book in 2014. I shifted to startups and helped entrepreneurs raise millions of dollars in funding, sell their businesses, and appear on ABC’s Shark Tank. I pivoted into career development exclusively in 2016, and use my proven business skills to help you think “entrepreneurially” about your career. I’ve also been teaching the course Career Development in the Arts at Boston University since 2016.
What industries do you serve?
I don’t specialize in one industry. I’ve helped people from various backgrounds: education, healthcare, life sciences, computer sciences, tech, start-ups, law, business, and the arts. One quality all my clients share is a desire to change something in their careers and they have the determination to get it done (many have a healthy dose of imposter syndrome too - but we work through it).
How do I know if you’re the right coach for me?
Ooh! Good question. First step - schedule a call so that we can connect. I want to hear more about where you are and where you want to be. Then ask me questions and we'll decide if coaching is write for you.

Is the client website and my data secured and safe?
Yes! There are three levels of security provided to keep your data safe and confidential:
- Username and password protected;
- Verisign Security Certificate protects your data on this site;
- Secured pages (https://)
Is my information confidential?
Yes. This site is protected by a username/password system. You are the only one that has access to your information.

Can I contact you in between our scheduled coaching sessions?
Yes! Please do. I'm always available in the Client Log of the private client portal. Post a message and I will get back to you within 48 hours, sooner if the message is urgent.
ACCESSING THE PRIVATE CLIENT AREA

Next, check your email for messages from emily@emilyworden.com (check your spam folder too). These messages will contain information about the next steps, and login information to access the client portal and all its resources.
How do I access your private client portal and how do I log in?
Click on the Login link in the navigational menu of the website. Then enter the username and password that has been assigned to you. Don't have login information yet? Email me at emily@emilyworden.com so we can get an account created for you.
Can I change the password you assigned to me?
Yes. Log in using the password assigned to you at registration. Once you log in, you can change your password at any time in your Client Profile page.
What if I forget or lose my password and login information?
If you forgot your password, go to the Login page, click the blue "Forgot Password" link, then enter your username and click on the "Continue" button. You will receive an email shortly with your password included.
If you misplaced both your username and password, contact me and I will forward your login information.
I’m trying to log in, but it will not accept my username or password, what do I do?
The login information is case sensitive, so enter it exactly like it was given to you. Also, type in your login credentials and DO NOT copy/paste it, as this procedure can include empty spaces, which count in a password, thus rendering the password incorrect. If you do not remember your login credentials, contact emily@emilyworden.com and I'll forward them to you.
FORMS, DOCUMENTS, AND RESOURCES AVAILABLE
What makes up a "Welcome Packet" and what do I do with this?
A welcome packet includes a few basic forms, documents, and resources that will help us get started working together in the coaching process. By completing the information in this packet, you are providing me with helpful information so that I can best support you, guide you, and work together with you. This packet is also a great way to kickstart brainstorming and excitement about your career journey. Please complete this packet before our first meeting to maximize our time together.
What resources are included in the client website?
It depends on the package you purchased. The Career Clarity Masterclass has access to every material available - and the list grows everyday: mini-courses, videos, "how to" guides, and jam-packed resource lists that will help you on every step of your career journey, from "What should I do next?" to "I got the promotion!"
The Breakthrough Bootcamp programs have limited access to resources on the site, which are curated to suit your particular needs.
SCHEDULING/RESCHEDULING APPOINTMENTS
What if I need to reschedule my appointment?
No problem! With at least a 24-hour notice, you can reschedule any appointment by using the online calendar system. Just complete the following steps:
- Log into the private client portal.
- Click on the Calendar menu.
- Locate and click on the desired block of “Available” time (or if you already have an existing appointment, click on the title of your existing appointment that you wish to reschedule)
- Click on the "Edit" button and change the details of the appointment to correspond with an "Available" block of time.
- The calendar will update itself, you'll see your new appointment reflected and I will receive an email notification letting me know of the change.
PAYING FOR THE COACHING SERVICES
How do I make a payment?
Payments are accepted through PayPal, you can pay via checking account or credit card. If you chose monthly payments for the Career Clarity Masterclass, you will receive a monthly invoice and can check your balance via the private client portal's dashboard.
