QUIZ: Am I Ready for Coaching?

Are you ready for career coaching?

Maybe.

First, let me ask you two questions:

  1. Are you ready for a change?
  2. Are you ready to work for it?

I can help you change your career and make more money.

When those two things change, everything else is affected: Where and how you live, your mental and physical health, your relationship with yourself and others, and overall feelings of contentment.

I can show you how to do this, but you have to do the work

My clients are driven, ready for a change, and willing to do the work to make it happen.

I work with people who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or questioning what they want to do next. They want something new, but somehow they can’t get that momentum going or whatever it is they’re currently doing isn’t working.

That’s where I come in. I meet you where you are, evaluate what you want, and we work together to make it happen. You will finish the program more confident, less stressed, and with your professional life back on track.

I help recent graduates, recent retirees, and every career stage in between. Some of my clients have been looking for jobs for a while, but it’s not panning out. Others are currently employed and ready for something new. Other clients took a career pause and they're ready to reenter the workforce. Whomever they are, my most successful clients do the following:

  1. Come to every coaching session prepared, ready to share, and eager to learn
  2. Trust the coaching process and embrace all its challenges and successes
  3. Complete the homework, pre-session prep, and post-session reflection
  4. Communicate with me in the client log between sessions
  5. Graduate with a renewed sense of purpose, confidence, and optimism (that’s my favorite part!)

So, back to my original question - are you a good fit for coaching?

Well, what do you think?

First, ask yourself … Where do you want to be six months from now? If the answer is, “In the same place where I am now,” then coaching isn’t right for you.

If you want to be in a different place six months from now, whether that’s making more money, working in a new job, or discovering a work/life balance, then answer the following questions to see if career coaching is right for you.

Submit your answers below for feedback OR keep these answers private, reflect on them, and revisit them often. Whatever is best for you at this moment is ok with me.

1) Why do I need career help? (Please explain your current work situation and any challenges you are facing or changes you want to make.)

2) What is the biggest change I want to make in my career? (Think 6 months, 1 year, 3 years from now … any idea where you’d like to be? It’s ok if you want something “different,” but you’re not sure what it is yet.)

3) If I made this change, the greatest result in my life/career would be … (If you improve your job situation, what else will improve in your life?)

4) If I don’t make this change, how will my life be negatively impacted? (How is your life negatively affected now by your career woes, and how might it get worse if nothing changes?)

5) The issues that are holding me back from achieving this change are … (What is stopping you from making the change that you want? What roadblocks are standing in your way? For example, time, direction, motivation, focus, imposter syndrome…)

6) The important actions I need to take to make this change are … (What needs to change in order for you to achieve your goals? For example, your beliefs, mindset, habits, or support system.)

7) Based on my answers above, my strategy to achieve my career goals include … (Now that you have an idea about what you want and what’s holding you back, consider how you can overcome those roadblocks. You might be able to do it on your own, or you might benefit from coaching.)
